This last Saturday I FINALLY went to the farmer's market in Irvine with a friend and my mom... and I fell in love!
When I lived in York during college, I would wake up at 4 am, bundle up and walk to the town square to buy fresh, locally grown produce from the farmer's market... and it was my favorite thing to do. I looked forward to waking up at the
butt crack of dawn every Thursday.
You really can't beat locally grown, organic, pesticide-free produce.
So... all that to say, I absolutely LOVE the Irvine farmer's market.
My mom and I went with a friend who's been going for a couple years, so she's in the know on who's good.
Everything was so beautiful! Not beautiful in the cookie-cutter, Barbie, plastic kind of way... rather, in the rustic, natural, earthy beauty. There is something so beautiful in the raw, natural look of food. I'd rather eat a lopsided, rough-looking apple than a waxy, perfectly shaped store bought apple any day.
If you haven't been to a farmer's market, (if it's available) then you need to go!
Seriously... the deliciousness of the produce will change you.
(And always remember to ask if their produce is pesticide free, because some do use pesticides.)
I wanted to share some photos of my lovely day...
Hope you enjoy!
the YUMMIEST apples I've ever had!
I'm such a sucker for lovely, romantic flowers
isn't this ginger MASSIVE?! I was thoroughly impressed.
Purple carrots!! I think it's exciting...
Brocoflower... broccoli and cauliflower made a baby ;)
I don't eat/like eggs, but this was too pretty to not snap a photo of... I mean, come on, how cute is this egg with it's little freckles??!
Mom and Laurie picking out their eggs.
Loved all the yummy samples!
Cutest, tiniest shallots I've ever seen.
I don't even know what this was... but it was huge, which makes it photo worthy (obviously).
There you go :D
Have a wonderful night lovelies!
